All the spatial components of land mass viz. arable land, non-arable land and drainage lines are being developed as one organic unit under the project "National Watershed Development Project for Rainfed Areas" which is mainly based on people's indigenous knowledge. Recognising that it is not possible to motivate most of the rural people without economic incentive, the technology comprises of both, the conservation systems and production systems.- Impact of Demonstrations on Tribal Womens Knowledge and Adoption Level of Preservation of Fruit and Vegetable Technology

Kinnaur, a predominated tribal district of Himachal Pradesh has made rapid progress with regard to fruit and vegetable production during the last two decades, but it has been estimated that about 20 per cent of the total fruit and vegetable produce is unmarketable surplus. Out of this surplus only 50 per cent is handled by the various state owned agencies like HPMC whereas the remaining half goes waste due to the lack of transport, packing and marketing facilities. Besides, the spoilage of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables owing to rotting and ignorance of handling them at the field level account for about 4 to 5 per cent.- Effect of Levels of Concentrate in the Diet on the Microflora of Buffalo Rumen

Previous reports have shown that the level and type of ration consumed by an animal affect the numbers and types of bacteria and protozoa in the rumen of cows.- Effect of Roughage and Concentrate Ratios on Nitrogen Metabolites in Buffalo Rumen

Protein and NPN are known to contribute largely to ammonia pool in the rumen. The amount thus formed is mostly dependent on the type and quality of protein and carbohydrate in the diet. There is little doubt that all classes of carbohydrates (cellulose, starch or sugars) can well be utilized using ammonia as the major nitrogen source and about 80 per cent rumen bacteria could be grown with ammonia as a sole nitrogen source.- Effect of Feeding Urea on Water Metabolism in Dry and Lactating Zebu Cattle and Buffaloes

The specific role of water in the processes of digestion of food, elimination of undigested residues, excretion of waste products of metabolism and dissipation of body heat in farm animals have been discussed at large in various reports. Both environmental temperature and plane of nutrition govern water intake as well as the ratio of water : dry matter intakes. The reports have also revealed that the dietary urea affect the water requirement of animals. The effect of water on regulating heat mechanism in Zebu, European and crossbred cattle have also been reported. However, much information is not available on the comparative aspects in these two species, i.e., zebu cattle and buffaloes.- Institutional Accreditation - A New Framework

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has specified the norms for according approval to technical institutions. These norms mostly cover quantity and quality of physical, human, instructional, financial and other requirements. In addition to this, achievement of the institutions are seen for their relative grading. The criterion developed by AICTE does not provide a framework to the evaluators and institution developers for identifying and initiating action. For institution building Coalignment Model comprising of Domain, Mission, Credibility and Network can be used for performance appraisal framework for polytechnics. In this paper, critical factors related to these variables and related processes have been suggested. The above approach, if adopted by National Board of Accreditation, will help in determining status, weaknesses, corrective measures, and intervention and strategy to an institution progressing on the task of building up excellence in addition to approval of the institute.- Identifying Entrepreneural Attributes of Prospective Entrepreneurs in Technical Institutions

For the growth of small and medium enterprises, talented people possessing entrepreneural attributes are needed. The present study was an attempt to identify entrepreneural attributes of prospective entrepreneurs and compare the self perceptions of entrepreneurship among students undergoing technician education programme in two institutions. The study was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, entrepreneural attributes were identified by asking a panel of judges to rank a long list of entrepreneural attributes. Finally, a sample of 100 students were asked to give their self-perception on the identified attributes. The data was analysed using weighted ranking technique, and t-test.- Entrepreneurship Development - A Model Based on Vedic Tradition
